Fast hätten wirs verpennt und wären dieses Jahr nicht umgezogen. Entsprechend gehts nun am 29.12.2008 wieder los, Freunde und Bekannte zusammengetrommelt und dann wird umgezogen.

Von der hübschen, riesigen, aber kalten Stuckvilla gehts nun ins Dachgeschoss eines schnieken Neubaus, nur ein paar Kilometer weiter Richtung Stadtrand. Mein Arbeitsweg wird sich um ca. 10-15 Minuten pro Richtung verlängern, dafür werden die Heizkosten wohl um 99% sinken


Aber vor dem Umzug hat der Herrgott die Malerei gesetzt und wir haben uns, wie schon hier in der Sophienterrasse etwas ausgetobt in einigen der vier Räume.

Kurz vor Weihnachten hab ich mir ein neues Telefon gegönnt und passend dazu auch gleich die entsprechend
große microSD-Karte, um den dedizierten MP3-Player abzulösen. Jetzt kam gerad die Aufforderung, doch
folgende Käufe zu bewerten:

-1 Exemplar(e) von: SanDisk Micro SDHC Card 8GB (original Handelsverpackung) von SanDisk GmbH [Elektronik]

Dabei hab ich die Karte doch gekauft und nicht verkauft

Beim lokalen C&A gabs gerad ein paar Schuhe nur in zu kleinen Größen, aber auf deren Website liessen die sich
noch passend bestellen. Gesagt getan, trotz des Hinweises, dass man mir eventuell in einer Mail mitteilen würde,
dass die entsprechende Größe doch nicht da ist.

Jetzt kam die Versandbestätigung und es ist doch alles am Lager gewesen:

Ein Arbeitskollege hat es offenbar gerade versucht, jedenfalls gibt es lustige Berechtigungen wie folgende:

Fazit2: Das hätt man vorher wissen können

In all the jobs I had until now,

most of the system documentation did NOT include why the machine was set up
or what one had to do to get common things done, but many people think, listing
all the hardware, serial numbers and installed software packages is sufficient.

I don't think so, but I think that these pieces of information should be included
into the documentation. But how do you do this without too much work?
You COULD collect all that information manually and type or cut&paste it into
your existing documentation.

I chose a different way: On many systems, we already collect data with the
neat cfg2html script. It collects most
vital data of many different operating systems and outputs them to a text or
html file.

I'm using the text file to create a Docbook appendix which I can include into
my documentation.

A new year, a new Open University-Course. After completing M150 Data, computing and information last year, I just got word that I got a Grade 2 pass on M255 this year:

Overall course result
Grade 2 pass

Overall examinable score (OES) : 74
Overall continuous assessment score (OCAS) : 92

The final written exam was better than expected. I wasn't even sure I made the 40% minumum score, because a lot of the questions dealt with classes used during the course and not with general understanding of the Java language. With those expectations, 74% is a great result, I think

Now I'll take some months off and start the next course in January M256 - Software development with Java.

Maybe I can even stack up enough money to add another course and do two courses simultaneously, we'll see. After all, I'm still only 1/6th to my BSc degree after two years.

...würd ich gern mein derzeitiges Kranksein an den Erfinder des Stressabfalls zu Urlaubsbeginn geben, ich werd da immer so anfällig, dass ich sofort krank werde. Dieses Mal hats immerhin fast ne Woche gedauert, dafür lieg ich nun seit Donnerstag mit Kopfschmerzen, Übelkeit, Durchfall und allgemeiner Schlappheit im Bett. Morgen wirds wohl Zeit für den Arzt...

Im Moment ist eher Sonne tanken und Radfahren angesagt, von daher nur mal die rückwärtige Ansicht

I was always looking for ways to carry instant messaging to wherever I currently am

and thought I found a solution to this problem in using my Nokia E61 for that and well, fring works quite well, but it's not as good as I hoped. The newest try to overcome this problem:

There's a jabber server at jabber.sparced.org right now, you might want to try it out, it has transports for all major IM networks and works quite stable for a couple of days now

Es hätte kaum passender kommen können,
denn meine alten Radklamotten, die nun fast 2 Jahre im Schrank verbracht haben,
weisen so langsam Verschleisserscheinungen auf und ich bin eigentlich gerade
im Begriff, die Radsaison für mich wieder so richtig zu eröffnen.

Und zu eben diesem Zeitpunkt kommt der FC St.Pauli und schickt mir meinen
Abteilungsdress(da ich im letzten Jahr keinen bekommen habe sogar mit Windjacke
dazu), der in natura deutlich netter aussieht als er es im Online-Shop tat.
Und Papi hat keinen Pfennig dazubezahlt

With this, almost all things are always ready when I need them. If I need to go on a short business trip,
I might just add a notebook and a change of clothes to this setup, digital camera is also optional(even
though I lug the tripod almost everwhere I go ).

Things like the purse, keys, phones and the multitool go into the hip holster, all other things
are neatly stowed within the bag.

What to you carry around with you every day?

Consider this:

You're making a copy of all files within a filesystem to a brand new disk with rsync.

In a second run, rsync doesn't report any differences between the original filesystem and
its copy.

But the filesystems differ in size and number of files.

After comparing numerous lists of files in both filesystems(about 500k files in each),
we found the reason for the difference and it was, as always, pretty obvious:

Nachdem mir das Finanzamt ja schon ernsthaft viel Geld für die letzten beiden Jahre erstattet hat und ich davon gleich ein Fahrrad kaufen gehen musste, hab ich dann doch noch etwas Sinnvolles gekauft:





Ab sofort hab ich nicht mehr immer die falschen Open University-Heftchen dabei, sonder kann platzsparend gleich alle mitnehmen
